Every now and then I check message boards on mlb.com or espn and sometimes you see a post like this:
(fake example)
Cardinals message board
poster - "I am a reds fan and we are interested in Scott Rolen. Would you take Austin Kearns for him?"
Now is it me or is fans seeking trades a silly aspect of message boards? Do GM's post on message boards? How does this person know who the Reds organization is interested in? Do they then send the posting to the GM to let him know the fans agreed a trade?
I just a chuckle out of these posters.

I don't think it's any more silly than half the posts here at the cafe. Just baseball fans talking baseball.

thats not really the silly part. they are bored so they are playing arm chair GM. nothing wrong with that. the silly part is the actual trade proposals many come up with. for example, most cardinal message boards are chock full of john gall + B prospect for xxx (slumping star player) proposals. in general, the more visitors the more crazy the proposals. espn and places like that with high traffic can get nuts. i dont really stop there but once in a blue moon.
