I read an article on BA which stated that DUKES should be a top 20 prospect, if not top 10, but his temper and questionable behavior has taken him off the list.

Go look at his AAA numbers so far... he is considered a 5 tool player, and try to get him cheap because there is a chance he has or will mature (I think he was born in 1984 - I was worse than he at that age :)

This was a recent comment on a minor-league website, and perhaps this would be one of the reasons of the aforesaid rankings:

"If you strip off the name to these numbers

21 years old/AAA
.304/.401/.553

I think it would not stop hype talking about this talent. It is surprising to me how Dukes get a lack of hype with amazing numbers and super star upside. The clips I have seen of him hit are impressive to say the least. Based on talent alone and raw skill I don't think there are many prospects in baseball that can top him."

Dukes is a toolsy player. IMO his tools are BETTER than Delmon Young's. However, Dukes has always seemed to lack something...maybe maturity?...but it looks like he is starting to put it together. he is 21 years old and is absolutly destroying AAA. if he can improve his plate discipline a bit more he could pass Delmon.

EDIT: I should probably add that he could FLOP big time. It all depends if he develops MENTALLY. That is the only part of his game I would be worried about at this point.

I agree almost with these rankings, but Dukes is right up there with Chris Young for me. Make up issues or not he is very underated by everyone except knowledgable Rays fans.

I think that is overstating Dukes a little bit. Dukes has a more level swing then Delmon which makes him less of a power hitter right now. Also Delmon makes much more use of his speed, Dukes isn't slow by any means but his size slows him down a bit from Delmon. They both have very good arms, but seeing them in person Delmon was more impressive. I think Dukes tools at times can be close or rival Delmons, but I'm not sure how they can be better.
