Trade Help... Ethics question

Postby lbbaseball14 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 11:23 am

Alright just a quick question about a recent trade I made.

I just made a trade of Jermaine Dye and Corey Patterson for Lance Berkman and have waited its 4 days to go through and I check this morning and I got an email that the trade didn't go through because the other guy didnt specify a player to drop and it would put him over the maximum roster size. The problem is with the way Dye and Patterson have been playing and Berkmans knee im not so sure about that trade anymore. The trade is no longer pending and my slate is clear. Am I still required to be a good guy and still make this trade even though he didnt designate a player to drop in order for it to go through??

You should be upset that the trade didn't go through. If Dye and Patterson continue to play at the levels they are playing right now, I'll eat my hat.

If the other guy still wants to do the deal I think you should go through with it. However, if he wants to hold onto Berkman you arein the clear. Tough question, because it's his fault the trade didn't go through in the first place...but everyone makes mistakes.

So is the consensus here that if the guy asks me about the trade and says can you re-propose it that I have to accept the trade again? Or can I say sorry those players have been playing better than they were the time the original trade was made and I'm not so sure anymore?

if he doesn't want to do the trade, then you're ok....if he still wants to make the trade, or if you change your mind and you still want to make the trade, then you need to do it again....

I think if yahoo allows you to do that stupid thing then you should be able to do it.

Yahoo makes you drop a player during a trade and doens't let you change that dropped player so I think you always gotta go if yahoo lets you do it then you can do it
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I think since its his fault it didn't go through, then you are not obligated to go through with it a 2nd time. However, I would make an attempt to redo the deal. I think you're much better off with Berkman.

I think you should give the guy a 24 hour window to contact you about making the trade again. Otherwise, only do it if YOU still want to.
Players value can change overnight (injuries, demotions, order in the lineup, etc). I can't call up a stockbroker and tell him to sell me something at yesterdays price just because I made a mistake with the bank transfer.

If the buy doesn't go through by 2PM, because of either side's mistake, I believe it is null and void... whether the value goes up or down.

I believe that is how this trade should work as well. If he wants the trade, he should reoffer it. If you don't want to accept it, you are not obliged to... especially considering it was his mistake.

That being said, if I were you, I'd accept it.
