what kind of value does zumaya have. some say he could be the next mariano rivera, as a closer, or a dynamic starter.

Maybe in a deep keeper league, but in regular leagues his value isn't that high. He can put up good MR numbers, but he's not even the best setup guy on his team. Still, if you want K's he's reliable, and there's always the chance he'll steal you a win while keeping ERA/WHIP lowish.

As long as he is in middle relief his value is limited. If that changes his value could sky-rocket.

He's got lots of value for a holds league, especially if Rodney ever becomes the Tigers closer again.

He gets me holds, Ks, keeps my ERA and WHIP down. One of my better FA pickups this year.

He has a great strikeout rate but unless both Jones and Rodney go down he won't pick up any saves this season. However keep him on your radar next season if you are looking for a sleeper pick at closer.

However if you're in a deep keeper leauge i would invest a lot in him now..unless someone already has in your leauge.

I agree with everyone here. He has great stuff with an overpowering fastball, but he is a MR right now and he doesnt really have anywhere to go. But he is dynamite, so keeper leagues i would keep an eye out.

I'll second this whole entry. He's even vultured some wins. But if you're hoping for saves this season, he's really third in line behind Jones/Rodney.

How about the talk of Zumaya being used as a starter this year, in lieu of Maroth's shortcomings... Heard Baseball tonight discussing this possibility some time ago here.

With a fastball clocking 101 & his s o totals he's a good guy to grab if you're in a pitching heavy league. There's talk of him getting a start.
