The Dodgers farm system is loaded, and has been for a while now.
As Don Sutton (I think it was Sutton) said about the 1974 Dodgers in the Sports Illustrated article "Those Rampaging Dodgers", "This is the culmination of something that's been coming for a long time."
Six Dodger rookies have been called up so far this year: Willy Aybar, Jonathon Broxton, Andre Ethier, James Loney, Russell Martin, Matt Kemp, and Joel Guzman. That's seven, but I think maybe Aybar is not technically a rookie.
Much of this is happening a few months to a year ahead of what most Dodger fans anticipated. But we knew it was coming.
And there's still lots more on the farm. Next up: Andy LaRoche and Chad Billingsley.
