Maris' 61st (answered)

Postby Arlo » Tue Apr 23, 2002 2:52 pm

Speaking of Roger Maris (see Who said it?), if you've ever seen footage of his record-setting 61st home run, he races around the bases much faster than we're used to seeing today with ordinary homers. Why?

After more than a month of research, the judges have ruled that cwebb's answer is... incorrect!

This decision may not be appealed, and the question is once again open for answers...

I believe so, but that has nothing to do with this (Bill veeck wasn't in the grandstand :-D )... Actually, Maris himself doesn't have all that much to do with this, either...

Players didn't dance around like little girls when they hit home runs in '61.

Is it something with the film they used back then? It doesn't play back at standard speed or something?

Sounds ridiculous, I know, but why break with the current theme!
