kinda makes you think, maybe his hand might be worse than thought. jeter is a gamer and usually plays through injuries.

You never know but Torre said that Jeter was surprised that he wasn't starting but he could pinch hit. He wanted to give him 1 more day off with Verlander pitching.

I was hesitant to start Verlander tonight, but with Jeter, Damon, Sheff and Matsui out of that lineup...I think I am going to plug him in.

I would have started him anyway because the Yankees tend to struggle against pitchers starting against them for the first time.
