REBUILDING — how am I looking?

Postby JoSox » Thu Jun 01, 2006 12:48 pm

Hey guys. I'm making some progress on rebuilding my roster after a miserable start to 2006. With 2007 and beyond in mind, I'd like to know what you think of my squad, positive and negative. It's still a work in progress, but for a keeper league (we keep 12), I'm assembling some great young players.

League plays H2H, 5X5.

Here's my potential keepers right now:
1B Prince Fielder
3B Alex Gordon
SS Rafael Furcal
OF Lastings Milledge
OF Hideki Matsui
OF Joel Guzman (hopefully with OF eligibility)
DH Mark Teixeira
SP Francisco Liriano
SP CC Sabathia
SP Dan Haren
SP Jon Lester
RP Derrick Turnbow

On-the-fence keepers:
OF Billy Butler
OF Matt Kemp
SP Jeremy Sowers

Thanks for any input.

Team doesn't look too bad right now, but keep in mind that it may be 2008 or beyond before you see the fruits of your labor bloom fully. Patience is the key. This is the third year I've played fantasy baseball and I spent the first two years building a team around two keepers. (Vlad and Tejada).

I finished near the bottom those first two years, but as I type, I'm sitting in first place, 13 points ahead. Some of the players I picked up in the minors included Harden, M. Cabrera, J. Reyes and Crawford .

Keep up scouring the waiver wire and potential hidden gems. In a couple years, you could be sitting where I am. ;-D

I just hope I stay there the rest of the year! :-o

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

I'd like to hear more about strengths and weaknesses and pros and cons taking the squad's potential into consideration.

I've put a lot of work into rebuilding this team, and I don't want to screw it up. 8-o

Not much to say except keep doing what you're doing because you have a great future ahead of you. You may be competing sooner than you think. Ill preach patience and dont deal away any young gems for the here and now. If it's a dynasty league you'd rather be bad for 2 years and good for 10 than mediocre for 2 and bad for 10. Best of luck. ;-D

Just a little advice for ya: Take time to look at other peoples' questions and answer them with your opinions. At the end, always leave your link to your questions and ask them to help you out. You may not get everyone's opinion, but you may get some more thoughts.

Keep at it! ;-D

I have to agree with the other posters. With Lasting, Guzman, Liriano, TEx, CC, haren, turnbow, furcal and Fielder you def has a very very solid young group of players. Dont be tempted to deal them so older vets. You want to keep them and you should be good-great in the next 3+ year,

If you can help
