Maroth to have surgery

DETROIT -- Mike Maroth is going to be out a while. Maroth is having surgery tomorrow (6/2) to remove bone chips from his left elbow. The Tigers won't set a timetable until after the surgery, but usually you can figure on 2-3 months.

That's quite a while, but it sure beats some of the other things that can go wrong when you're talking about an elbow. Now the question is where will the Tigers be upon his return? I also wonder what would happen if the replacement whether it be Miner, Tata, or anybody else is pitching very, very well if Maroth would get his job back by default? You have to consider that 2-3 months comes close to the end of the season on the longer end of the timeframe and he may not be 100% upon his return.
