I'm real thin at SS, and DeRosa qualifies there. He's hitting .320 and apparently playing 3B. A couple of years ago when he was playing everyday for the Braves, he hit .297, so it's possible that when he plays everyday he's actually a good hitter. My main question is whether Texas fans think he'll remain in the lineup and whether anyone else thinks he can keep up the .300+ average.

No, and no.

He'll cool down, the Texas lineup should look something like:

CF GMJ
SS Young
1B Teix
3B Blalock
RF Mench
LF Wilkerson
DH Botts
2B Kinsler
C Barajas/Laird

Leaves no room for Marky-mark once his hot streak is over.

the rangers are doing everything they can to keep derosa in the lineup while he's hitting well.
i dont expect him to keep it up....however he's a buck showalter favorite, and he is a favorite in the clubhouse, so who knows.

but i dont think he becomes an everyday player all year.

Play him for a while, just have a good backup plan ready when he cools down.

At the risk of this needing to go into a different forum, the best SSs available in my deep and somewhat inactive league would be DeRosa, Clayton, Russ Adams, & A. Gonzales. Gonzales is just terrible this year, though in years past I'd have picked him up.
