Not that Nevin is any kind of huge upgrade over anyone, but finally that walking turd Jerry Jr. is gone.

Too bad it wasn't Neifi sent packing. This trade isn't a blockbuster, nor was it meant to be. When the only other moves are J.T. Snow, Tony Clark, or Jeff Conine, you can't complain too much about Nevin.

His .216 AVG sucks but his 9 HR and 31 RBI are better than anyone on the Cubs. He's pretty good vs. lefties, which could help to spell Jacque Jones on occasion and it'll be nice to actually have a power guy on the bench in pinch-hit situations. Its also a stretch but Nevin could also possibly catch while Barrett is on suspension. I can't imagine the thoughts of Henry Blanco and his .070 SLG starting every game while Barrett's out.
