TB lineup when Cantu back

Postby vladrules » Wed May 31, 2006 7:24 pm

As a Gomes owner, I'm wondering what the TB lineup would look like with Cantu back soon.

Will they move Gomes to cleanup? If he bats 5th then that kind of sucks since he'll lose some AB.

Crawford
Gomes

possibly switching Cantu and Crawford around

Yeah, i would think Crawford would be second and Cantu third.

I'd like to see Huff hit in front of Gomes for some protection. Wiggington is having a good season but TB really needs to get Huff's value up if they are going to get anything useful in a trade for him.

Like last year, it should be:

Lugo
Crawford
Cantu
Gomes
Huff/Wiggs
Huff/Wiggs

Should mean even more RBI opps for Gomes. The difference between batting third and fourth over the course of a season is about 20 ABs. Figure about 15 for the duration of the season.
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?

I hope Gomes doesn't hit any lower than 4th. I'd hate for him to hit 5th "just to give Huff protection"

Huff has had the 4th spot in the lineup cemented down for years now. So they may not move him out of that spot.

I think it will go:

Lugo
Crawford
Gomes
Huff
Cantu

Maybe that's why they stunk! :-D It's true that TB didn't have as much talent like they do now. Huff is prone to cold, cold streaks. I understand that if they leave him 4th vs RHP, he could get better pitches to hit with young Gomes behind him but I hate that as Gomes owner. Gomes will lose AB bc Huff will make outs until he starts hitting.

I would think that Gomes would definitely hit cleanup vs LHP and possibly as low as 5th vs RHP.

Hopefully Gomes can become just as solid as DWright hitting 5th who gets awesome protection with Beltran and Delgado batting in front of him. DWright is doing amazing for my team.

Last season, huff was not hitting cleanup for a while, this season I have a theory that they will leave him at cleanup to showcase him for a potential trade, his value is so low, and I think they want to move him before the trade deadline.
