It's unfortunate that supposed baseball "fans" fail to recognize the 1st half accomplishments of much more worthy candidates like Thome, Hafner, Jose Lopez, Iguchi, Rios, Glaus, Wells, and Mauer. How boring is it to pick the same old names every year regardless of how well they're playing.
Not sure how you can argue that Manny and his 1014 OPS don't deserve to be there. He's outhitting Vlad, who seems to be getting a free pass here amongst all the predictable Yankees and Red Sox are ruining baseball stuff. ARod, as the reigning MVP and a guy who is, despite all the guff written about him, actually having an extremely productive season, should absolutely be going.
It's fine to have Mauer ahead of Varitek, but isn't Posada leading AL catchers in OPS? Why is he not mentioned as being screwed? I think we both know the answer to that one.
In any case, it's an all-star game, not an all-stat game.
