Baird fired

It's not offical yet, but it looks like the Royals are finally going in the right direction. Sources told the Kansas City Star that Moore is getting a five-year contract and complete control over baseball operations. He'll officially take over the GM role after next week's draft. Does Moore start the youth movement and call up Gordon and Butler, or let them destroy AA a while longer? Are they at least locks for looks in September?

Dayton Moore's deal is set at $ 5 M over 5 years with complete control, meaning Dan Glass cant screw everything up

Very good day for Royals fans.....now David and Dan Glass need to set their wallets on the table and leave the room. Let Moore do his thing.

The bad thing is that Asst. GM Muzzy Jackson will handle the draft next week, while Moore finishes the draft with ATL.

;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D

hope our draft in the future will be better.

Royals' draft record

2000
Michael Stodolka L/L 6-2 205 09/04/81 1 LHP
Michael Tonis R/R 6-3 215 02/09/79 2 C
Scott Walter R/R 6-2 200 12/28/78 3 C
David Dejesus L/L 5-11 165 12/20/79 4 CF
Zachary Mcclellan R/R 6-5 195 11/25/78 5 RHP

Dejesus the only one paying off

2001
Jonathan C Griffin R/R 6'4" 198 9/29/1982 1 RHP
Terence M Crosby L/R 6'2" 205 2/06/1983 2 CF
Matthew Ferrara R/R 6'1" 190 9/27/1982 3 3B
John W Draper R/R 6'2" 185 8/11/1980 4 C
Chamar M McDonald R/R 6'4" 205 6/18/1983 5 1B

no idea who any of them are, looking down. The only name I recognize is Taylor Tankersley, and he didn't sign and was drafted by the Marlins 3 years later.

2002
Donald Z Greinke R/R 6'2" 180 10/21/1983 1 SS -
Adam M Donachie R/R 6'2" 180 03/03/1984 2 C -
David C Jensen L/L 6'3" 215 12/16/1979 3 1B -
Daniel J Christensen L/L 6'2" 205 08/10/1983 4 LHP -
Donald R Murphy R/R 5'10" 175 03/10/1983 5 SS -

Greinke should be fine but I've never heard of the other 4. Jonah Bayliss is the only other notable names.

2003
Christopher S Lubanski L/L 6'3" 180 03/24/1985 1 CF -
Mitchell W Maier L/R 6'2" 195 06/30/1982 1 C -
Shane J Costa L/R 6'1" 205 12/12/1981 2 CF -
Robert B Mcfall R/R 6'3" 205 03/17/1984 3 1B -
Miguel A Vega R/R 6'3" 205 07/31/1985 4 3B -

Lubanski and Costa should be fine. We also got Luis Cota in the draft. This one looks prettier.

2004
Billy R Butler R/R 6'2" 225 04/18/1986 1 3B 06/07/2004
Matthew B Campbell L/L 6'2" 170 12/27/1982 1 LHP 07/05/2004
James P Howell L/L 6'0" 180 04/25/1983 1 LHP 07/05/2004
William J Buckner R/R 6'2" 215 08/27/1983 2 RHP 07/12/2004
Erik M Cordier R/R 6'3" 195 02/25/1986 2 RHP 06/25/2004

Billy Butler, Bill Buckner and JP Howell is looking good now. Josh Johnson has appeared in some top 20 lists.

WE NEED BETTER DRAFTS!!!

And I hope Moore can do that better than Allard ;-D

Yeah, I'll be interested to see what the new GM does...their AA team is stacked and he can bide his time till September, bring them up or trade them. I would assume he'll just stay the course but when it comes to KC who knows. :)

This is a huge deal!! Not only are we getting, arguably, the best GM prospect out there but he will be bringing a good handful of some of the best scouts and other front office people from one of the best organizations out there (Atlanta). This is going to turn into a complete "gutting" of the organizations over the next year or two when Moore gets settled in, (which is what should happen). Ahhh, the great "ideas" of the good 'ol days (mid 70s - mid 80's) are coming back to KC as he will bring the ideas of Schuerholtz back to KC.

I can't be more excited about all of this!!! ;-D ;-D !+)
