Botts will still be sharing the DH role. To keep DeRosa in the lineup, the Rangers are going to rotate Tex, Young and Blalock through the DH position on occasion and let DeRosa fill in at their vacated position. It won't be a daily thing, but it will be a regular thing.

Botts will play more than when Nevin was there, but not daily.

i have no doubt that will happen a lot, but i expect botts to get a majority of the dh at bats , especially once derosa cools down ...which he is already starting to. the rangers gm said at the begining of the year that he wouldnt call up botts unless he would play almost every day

Plus if someone in that lineup goes down Botts would instantly become an everyday player if he isn't already....but I just dumped Rafael Soriano for him and i'm gonna try to switch around Botts and Hawpe in my lineup....and if Hawpe doesn't heat up again soon than Botts is an everyday guy on my team ;-D

also, dont be surprised if botts gets 1b eligibility.
he came up as a firstbaseman, and he was switched i believe last year, to the outfield because of a logjam at firstbase. but the rangers have admitted he hasnt been great there as he lacks speed, though he has improved.

i wouldnt be shocked if he subs in for tex in blowout games, though yesterday they put barajas there and botts in leftfield.

The kid is big and strong, good speed for his size, and has a Hafner kind of power stroke. I don't have much doubt he'll bang homers, but it's too soon to say if he's going to hit for average yet. There just aren't enuf stats on him yet to get a good feel for it. I'd watch his walk rate. If its good and getting better, then he could be a stud.
