Justin Verlander getting some much deserved props from MLB. Named Co-Player of the week with Carl Crawford. Justin's last two starts: 16 innings, 12 Ks, 0.56 ERA and 2 Ws.
Hope this is just the beginning of many awards for this flame throwing gem.
DETROIT -- Justin Verlander was named the American League rookie of the month for May. He's the first Tiger ever to win the award (although it's only been given out since 2001). He beat out Boston's Jonathan Papelbon, who won the award in April and also had a great May.
Verlander was 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA in five starts in May.
The sounds of "He's not ready" from many "expert" posters around the cafe in the leftovers forum still ring in my head clearly. Not a bad start to a career of a guy who "wasn't ready".

Good things come to those who wait. And we've had to wait an awful long time something to puff our chests out about.
He can go a long way towared cementing his place as an ace with a stellar performance today.
