I saw Mark Prior pitch yesterday...

He looked terrible. He never topped 88 on the gun. He was between 81-88 the whole 2 innings he pitched. He gave up 3 runs, including one homerun. You could tell he wasn't throwing his hardest and was just trying to throw pitches to get the work in. I was disappointed with only 2 IP, but he still looks rusty. I wouldn't be surprised if he got another start in class A ball.

at least he's throwing though. Sportsline is saying he'll likely get a 2nd start in A ball and then a 3rd start at a higher level and then maybe rejoin the team. i'm thinking it'll be July before he's actually worth starting

Give him 2-3 more starts and THEN if his velocity is down, there's something to worry about. I heard he was concentrating on his control and command of the fastball. He hit most of his spots. His velocity will come in time

In my original post, I stated that it looked like he was just trying to get his pitches in and didn't really care about K's and runs. I'm not bashing the guy, just giving a first hand account.
