Valverde has really sucked as of late

rotoworld says he's next in line.. but it could be Julio also.. he's been a closer before ...dunno who to pick up now..

i was thinking Julio but i highly doubt Arizona wouldjust throw him in that role after just getting him..plus he's already been struggling

Would Brandon Lyon get an opportunity? He seemed to do pretty well in the closers role the first half of last year

Lyon was a stud last year until he got hurt, my money is that Valverde figures out his problem and you won't have to worry about it, call it a rough patch.

Jose Valverde will sit out Tuesday's game after blowing save opportunities on Sunday and Monday.

vizcaino is pretty valuable as their main setup guy. but he has some wicked stuff and would likely do well as their closer also.

Valverde has been throwing nothing but fastballs as of late. I would say that is probably the the main contributor to his troubles. He has a decent slider and split so I've confused as to why he's fallen in love with the heat so much.

Hopefully he will fall out of love with it and go back to being lights out, cause since he has ditched all of his other pitches, he has given up 9 runs in 3.2 innings and relaly isnt even striking people out. He has been bitten by the long ball, but 2 circus saves and 2 losses in a row will really have Melvin thinking.

Yahoo said he has the day off today and Vizcaino will probably get the opp if there is one, but he asserted Valverde is still the closer and it getting a day off since he has been overworked recently. I think he only has one more bad outing before his job is in jeopardy though, so lets hope for 5-6 good outings with not earned runs over the next couple of weeks! I cant afford to get another closer!

Be nice to know who Melvin might turn to in the short term. I just had a roster spot open up with Lieber going to the DL, and Julio and Lyon are both available.
But in previous situations like this, I've tended to guess wrong (Papelbon v. Timlin '06; Turnbow v. Adams '05; etc).
