Yeah he has an abdominal infection aka stomach virus. They claim it gives him discomfort when he tries to run. I think he should be back by tommorrow or Wednesday the latest, unless he is feeling fragile at this age.

I've read they are looking into whether he may have a sports hernia ala Magglio Ordonez early last season that shelved him for a couple months. Also, the same type of hernia that Donovan Mcnabb was able to quarterback through. I don't like the sound of it, Edmonds has shown to be fragile over the recent years, and normally gets the occasional day off, not sure he could play through a hernia if he has one.

Drop Edmonds? you serious?

Is it safe for me to drop him, stick Nomar in the OF and grab a guy like Uggla or Loretta for the UT spot?

Certainly wait until someone with medical credentials diagnoses Edmonds with a sports hernia before you consider dropping him...

Here's the latest I've seen. Kinda good news:

"Center fielder Jim Edmonds, meanwhile, missed his fourth straight start with what the team called lower abdominal discomfort. Edmonds underwent an MRI earlier Tuesday and was awaiting results, but believed doctors had ruled out a sports hernia.

"I haven't really done much," Edmonds said. "They told me to wait until the doctor got here and we'd know more.""

The MRI turned up negative for any abdominal muscle tears, but after todays game he's supposed to go see another doctor, this one is supposed to be a sports hernia expert. I'm not sure why they are so focused on the whole sports hernia thing though.

Just read on Stltoday that his injury is similar to a hockey injury. That injury has sidelined guys for 3 months up to a year. What am I going to do with Edmonds. I cannot afford to have him in reserve with only 2 spots taken becasue I also own Patterson and Clemens. I think Ibanez or even Botts can produce similar numbers.
