Any news on David Wells?

Postby jh2031 » Mon May 29, 2006 9:45 am

The Red Sox medical staff said they'd know more after it happened but I haven't really heard much else than it's a bruise on his knee. Is he going on the DL?

Per NESN this morning, it's a deep bone bruise but may not prevent Wells from making his next scheduled start.
Which I'm not real sure is good or bad news for Red Sox Nation...

He was doing good against Tampa when he got hit. And I mean, he can't be any worse than Lenny DiNardo...can he? :-?

I agree, can't be worse than DiNardo or DelCarmen for that matter.
A lot of people ruing the loss of Bronson, I liked him too but think most of his early success has been due to NL batters being unfamiliar with him - he'll probably fall back to earth soon enough.
In that vein, I'd love to see the Sox grab Zach Duke while he's a bit down. I think he's got a lot of upside and dearly needs out of Pittsburgh.

You've got to give Boomer some credit for at least wanting to take the ball regardless of injuries. "He rode the bike (Saturday night) and we were a little surprised he could do that," manager Terry Francona said. "He looks a lot better. Can he pitch Wednesday? I don’t know."

If not, I think the Sox are going to start Alvarez

Looking very doubtful that Wells makes his start, according to WEEI.
