Lefthander Cole Hamels threw in the bullpen yesterday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park and said he felt fine.
Hamels is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder, although Hamels wishes he hadn't said anything Tuesday in New York because he felt immediately better the next day. Hamels could make a rehab start Tuesday or Wednesday, and is eligible to be activated Saturday in Los Angeles.
Hamels is most likely to return to the Phillies rotation, if everything remains on schedule, during a three-game series in Arizona from June 5 to 7.
"It went real well," he said. "Things were back to normal. I felt as good as I did last week."
"Trying to hit him was like trying to drink coffee with a fork." - Willie Stargell on Sandy Koufax

i am missing carp, hammels, patterson and i picked up clemens (1 starting pitching slot short), so i am hurting....but i am still winning thanks to my hitting (reyes, MCab, hafner) core and my closers (ray, wickman and paplebon)...

thinking.gif Well, if he's not just blowing smoke, this could be good news. My roster could use a June infusion of Hamels/Harden.
I think he's being truthful. Initial reports from Hamels himself were that he would miss one start, and avoid a dl stint. An hour later, they DL'd him, so I tend to think of this as the Phils being overly cautious.
I also have Hamels, Carpenter, and Sheets currently on my DL. Do great minds think alike in all the fantasy owners who apparently have these three guys? Or are we all big suckers stuck with injury-plagued underachievers?
In any event, my rotation is such a total stinkosaurus right now I'm lucky there isn't a "mercy rule" in fantasy. I need Hamels and Carpenter to get back in the rotation pronto and to have Sheets follow not too far behind.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
