ANAHEIM, Calif., May 28 -- The Baltimore Orioles, barring a setback, will send pitcher Daniel Cabrera to Class AA Bowie for an injury rehab stint this week. He has been on the disabled list since May 15 with right shoulder inflammation but Manager Sam Perlozzo hopes Cabrera can return to the rotation near June 6 if "we can maneuver this thing around a little bit."
Cabrera joined Class AAA Ottawa to throw some side sessions and Perlozzo received a favorable review from Manager Dave Trembley.
Orioles reliever Sendy Rleal, a close friend of Cabrera's, said he has spoken several times to him and that Cabrera believes he'll be back with the team soon.
If Cabrera can't return to the rotation quickly, it's likely the Orioles would have to use either rookie Adam Loewen or reliever John Halama for a start.
