Derrek Lee is expected to have the short cast removed from his broken wrist next week.
Once the cast is off Lee can potentially begin a minor league rehab assignment, although he is not expected to return until July. May. 27 - 9:31 am et

Well, guess we'll find out soon what he can do!

The big question is how tight those wrist ligaments got while in the cast.

in his interview on FOX saturday baseball, Hendry (Cubs GM) said "Derrek should be back in 2 weeks"

I think he lies. Or misspeaks.

How long was he in the cast? Didn't seem nearly as long as it was supposed to be. Could it be that his arm didn't have enough time to "regress too much"?

I had my arm in a cast for 6 weeks and my wrist has never been the same. I'm sure what age you are matters and mine happened when I was 34, 2 years older than Lee now. Not a huge difference, but in th mid 30s, physically, 2 years can be a lot. I assume he'll have more and better therapy than I did, but I'll be amazed if he's playing in 2 weeks.

I would give it about a month before we see last year's Lee again.

I pray for a faster recovery because the entire Cubs line up is getting abused w/o him.
