At least his stats are impressive from his Las Vegas game Friday night:
Houlton (W, 2-4) 6.0 7 5 5 1 2 2 5.93
Miller (H, 1) 1.0 0 0 0 2 2 0 0.00
Carrara (H, 1) 1.0 1 0 0 1 1 0 0.82
Gagne (S, 1) 1.0 0 0 0 0 2 0 0.00
He got 2 K's and the save!

That brings tears of joy to my eyes. I can't say I'm confident he will come back and be dominant like he was, though.

why wouldn't he stay healthy? he's what, 30? he had a nerve removed: it can no longer hurt him. unless there's another sneaky ninja injury that hasn't been publicized, i see no reason why he couldn't effectively rock the bump in the 9th.

He is still a HUGE injury risk. He should not be part of your plans and anything he does should be considered a bonus at this point.

what risk?
wait, i'm serious!
he had a nerve removed. his sore knee healed more than a year ago. when he's healthy, he's dominant. by all accounts, he's healthy.
i'm not saying plan around him, but i wouldn't say that of all but maybe 5 or 6 players.

Gagne missed all of 05 except for 14 games. He hasn't pitched in nearly a year and is coming back from another elbow injury. This time the nerve removed from his elbow.
He is in the top 99% in terms of injury risk players right now. He and Kerry Wood are 1, 2.

100% agreement. If you're talking yourself into expecting anything fron Gagne you're being a fool.

i think you guys might be succumbing to the momentum of myth.
this surgery from a year ago was non-structural--a clean-up, if you will. he returned to pitch effectively at the end of the season. the pain he felt in spring was from a nerve that has now been removed.
call me a fool--i'm not out to win a popularity contest--but i hold pretty fast to the notion that his return will be successful.
