Jered Weaver will join his older brother, Jeff, in the Los Angeles Angels' rotation.
The Angels selected the younger Weaver's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, and he will make his major-league debut Saturday night against the Baltimore Orioles.
Weaver, a 23-year-old right-hander, was 4-1 with 1.89 ERA in nine starts at Salt Lake. He allowed 44 hits while walking eight and striking out 66 in 57 innings. Kevin Gregg, who has been starting, will move to the bullpen.
The Angels picked Weaver 12th overall in the 2004 draft. He had a 37-9 record and a 2.43 ERA in three seasons at Long Beach State and was 7-4 with a 3.91 ERA in 15 starts for Rancho Cucamonga and Arkansas last year.
