I have this posted in the Minor League forum but it doesn't get as much traffic as Leftovers does so I pose this question...
What player (if any) listed has the best chance to receive the honor. I realize it is very early to start guessing but I've created a spreadsheet keeping tracking of their stats and also the final stats of the last 5 winners (Young, Francis, Mauer, Baldelli and Beckett)
Billy Butler (currently in AA)
Brandon Wood (AA)
Alex Gordon (AA)
Lastings Milledge (AAA)
Kurt Suzuki (AA) - no chance IMO
Stephen Drew (AAA)
Andrew McCutchen (A)
Troy Tulowitzki (AA)
Justin Upton (A)
Ian Stewart (AA)
BJ Upton (AAA)
Joel Guzman (AAA)
Matt Kemp (AA)
Felix Pie (AAA)
Philip Hughes (AA)
Radhames Liz (A Advanced)
Mike Pelfrey (AA)
Chad Billingsley (AAA)
Jered Weaver (AAA)
If history is correct then it is a player that stays in the minors pretty much the entire year. So in that thinking - Weaver, Billingsley, Drew and Milledge could be ruled out since they could make the jump at anytime at stay.
My 1st pick would be Gordon but he could be called up at anytime since the Royals blow. Kemp would be my 2nd choice and my "sleeper" would be Liz.
