The Mets made their second trade in as many days. This time they sent A-Ball Pitcher Robert Manuel to the Reds for Dave Williams. Manuel breezed through the GCL last year after signing out of Sam Houston State. I do not think he has pitched yet this season. Likely to be nothing more than organizational roster filler. Dave Williams can't be any worse than Gonzalez or Jose Lima. Gonzalez was DFA.

He's already been sent to AAA, I'd be surprised if we saw him with the big league club at all this season.

Omar cited that Dave Williams adds some depth to their starting pitching. Omar remarked that Williams was playing for a team that was under .500 and would have better protection with the Mets offense supporting him.
He was also happy to share that he got the Reds to pick up a large part of the salary.

Dang, hopefully not too much. BTW the Reds are 7 games over .500. Omar needs to check his facts. Hopefully, he got the part about the Reds taking some of the salary wrong too.

Ouch for all Reds fans
I can't possibly picture Williams being any better than Lima as a SP at this point either.
and it's not like he's going to be a LOOGY with a .250 BA and 1.50WHIP against LHB...
not like the Mets gave up a ton though.
