If RJ has any pride as a player or a man, he'll hang it up after this year.
There is nothing to buy out. I do not know what gives anyone this idea. He is owed 16 M...GUARANTEED. If his arm falls off and he does not play another game, he still gets paid. If he sits on the bench, he still gets paid. If he gets released he still gets paid. RJ is not going to give up 16M dollars. It is not happening. Cashman and George are stuck with him. There is NOTHING to negotiate.

Would you retire and give up 16 M? Really this is a pointless argument as it has ZERO chance of ever happening. The absolute best case for Cashman would be a career-ending injury wherein insurance would pay 2/3 or 3/4 of he money owed RJ. That is sad coming from a Yankee fan, but it is the truth.

I'd rather see him DFA'd by the all-star break. That would never happen though.
Either way, the Yanks will pay him all he's owed.
It's not my money, why do I care?

Which is why I think they'll try to humiliate him by threatening to send him to the minor leagues. Hardball.
