No word on whether he plays through it or gets surgery though.

rotowire says he'll play the rest of the season with it and due to probable effects to his production, recommends to trade him if possible..great..

I hope no one traded him:

Yanks get a break: Although there have been published reports that Gary Sheffield has a broken hamate bone in his left hand, Torre dismissed those reports as fiction on Wednesday.

"Any reports we've had from our doctors, they've never indicated a break," Torre said.

Sheffield returned from the DL on Tuesday after missing 16 games with a bruised left wrist. He was the Yankees' DH on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Torre said he would be back in right field this weekend when the Yanks return home.

How did Sheffield break a bone in his hand during that collision? He rammed Hillenbrand in the head with his knee, and fell over top of him. Then he misses a month, and Hillenbrand plays the next day?
Now he says he broke a bone in his left hand, but the doctors say different?

What is going on here?:-?
Just play Gary and stop whining about fake broken bones, I need your production. :-°

Yeah....he played yesterday, and yahoo says he is going to be out a few weeks. Why on earth would they say that if he played last night. Sounds like vicious rumor to me. Injuries are no stranger to Sheff. He will finish the season out just fine. ;-D
