the guy has over 17,000 adds in yahoo right now. is he that good or do you think those moves are just desperate teams going for desperate measures?

he has shown this type of ability with the cubs before when he hit 24 hr and 32 sb. the think the surprise is that his avg is above .300 and is definitely likely to come back down to the .270 range. he also K'ed 168 times that season with the cubs and the fact his k's are so low shows me something. maybe he has finally harnessed all of his tools together and has turned the corner, but pick him up if he is available and ride the wave......

p.s. your comment may be in the wrong forum :-t

2 Years ago Patterson was drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds. He has the potential to approach .300 with 20hr's and 40 or more sb's. He will probably never cut down his strikeouts to a level that managers are comfortable with from players at the top of the lineup, but if he can keep his average high enough he'll have a spot in the upper half of the lineup. Based on that potential and the offensive tear he's on, he's a good pickup.

This guy is the real deal! It sucked watching baseball last year with him struggling and going to the minors and all that. I'm loving it that the cubs let him go and now his is stinging the ball. Good for you Corey! Pick this cat up.

He's especially great if you've got the roster spots to platoon him... He rakes righties (plus steals) but still struggles against lefties.

Moving him to the bottom of the order has allowed him to thrive. His numbers hitting down there are awesome and he is grabbing bags, too.
