Thoughts on Marcus Giles

Hmmm, dropping Marcus Giles. I know he's been as cold as ice, but he still has value. Just the other day I was offered John Patterson straight up.

He still has value above the WW, dropping him is not the way to go.

Ooops. Betancourt's current, past and projected OBP could be his average and he'd still be a poor fantasy play.

Somebody has been reading too much "expert advice" from Brandon Funston and the gang.

Yeah, people in fantasy baseball, particularly the newbies, tend to way over react to a young guy on a hot streak or a proven veteran stud on a cold streak. 9 out of 10 times, grabbing the cold vet over the hot rookie pays off over the long run.

This last week I've vultured both Giles and Pettite... I'm not worried at all.

I'm right there with you on that one. I've managed to vulture the likes of Dontrelle Willis, Furcal, Giles, and King Felix as a result of over reacting managers. HOWEVER, I'd imagine you'd feel a little differently if you drafted Giles and Pettite in the 5th-7th rounds. Probably a little more cause for concern if that were the case.

Giles was dropped in my league a few days ago, no one has picked him up. It's an 8 team private league on Yahoo.

I've picked up Ramon Hernandez, Barry Zito, Mark Prior, & Chad Tracy so far, after they were dumped by their owners.
