Another year, and another month of May where Barry Zito makes everyone forget what a terrible April he's had. Like Aubrey Huff's second half splits, is there anything more clock work in fantasy baseball than Zito's annual May turnaround? And to make things even stranger this year, Zito has almost indentical stats EXCEPT earned runs in April and May.
April 06: 5GS 27.1IP 20H 14BB 23K 1.24WHIP .211BAA 18ER
May 06: 5GS 33.2IP 27H 15BB 21K 1.25WHIP .227BAA 3ER
Zito still has one more start left on the month but barring a 15 ER collapse, its safe to say Zito has pulled another May miracle. Baseball works in mysterious ways.

I'd rather have Dunn and Vazquez than Helton and Zito...
Anyway, though, that thing with Zito is weird. He gave up 4 HR in April to 2 in May, but that doesn't seem like enough to count for 6 times as many ER. I guess statistics are just funny in small sample sizes.

Sucks in what format?
He is a beast in points leagues even with a .235 avg, because he walks his ass off and hits a bunch of bombs. He's also a hell of a player in real life because his OBP and SLG are always high, and those are numbers you look for in a productive real life hitter.
So yeah maybe he's not so valuable in Roto due to the avg, but to say the guy sucks, when put into context it's just flat wrong.
A wee bit off topic, but I read on either RotoWorld or ProSportsDaily.com that the A's are demanding either Wright or Reyes from the Mets for Zito, while the Nationals are demanding Lastings Milledge for Livan.
I like Vazquez, but he got off to a hot start and I sold high on him (I have been right so far as Barry Zito has about a 1.00 ERA for me in 4 starts. So I think it is obvious that Zito is better than Vazquez.
