Ideas on how to improve my OF?

Postby yourgodsdice » Tue May 23, 2006 11:51 am

Just drafted this team last night for the midseason:

12 Team 5x5 Roto
C B. McCann
1B P. Konerko
2B C. Utley
3B A. Rodriguez
SS C. Gullien
OF B. Wilkerson
OF A. Huff
OF B. Hawpe
UTL N. Johnson
BN J. Guillen
BN J. Gibbons

SP J. Contreras
SP B Zito
RP D. Turnbow
RP J. Valverde
P A. Otsuka
P M. Buehrle
P B. Myers
BN R. Clemens
BN C. Hamels
BN C. Lee

Extremely happy with my pitching and infield. My strategy was to get as many great pitchers as I could early and wait to build my OF near the end of the draft. But I'm thinking my OF is pretty weak as a result. I'd like to get some input on ideas to improve it. Who should I consider trading/trading for? Are the following OF FA's better in the long haul this season than the ones I've drafted:

P. Feliz
L. Gonzalez
M. Alou
X. Nady
E. Byrnes
M. Cuddyer
G. Anderson
J. Hermida
Any prospects maybe not drafted I should focus in on?

Thanks. WHIR.

Alou certainly would be a good pickup when he comes back. Wouldn't bother with the rest, unless you're a Cuddyer believer.

I'd consider trading Clemens for a good hitter the second he announces his destination.

Who would be the first OF on my roster to go? I'm thinking either Guillen or Gibbons.

Guillen easily imho, unless he really heats up between now and Alou's return. Gibbons is solid and a little underrated, a good bench player.

yeah i'd pick up alou because hitting behind bonds really gives him some opportunities to hit good pitches. you might also want to think about nady as an option too.

Alou is definitely the best on the list you posted. Once he returns to the lineup, he will see some pitches & have plenty of RBI opportunities. He is solid, when healthy. As he is getting up there in age, he doesn't seem to be healthy for long stretches of time.

I think Cuddyer is better than Huff who has been underperforming thus far this season.

Hope this helps.

I'd love your help in coming up with a trade:
