There aren't many dates in that list of charitable contributions. For all we know most of it was done 10 years ago. I'm glad he did it, and I'm sure the people he helped are thrilled to no end, but the info may be misleading about the man he became via the use of steriods.

Take for instance this hateful piece on the front of Sports Illustrated by Tom Verducci.

Sounds like he is pointing out (and giving evidence) that Bonds says whatever is convenient at the time to fit his agenda (regardless of what he's said in the past) and that Bonds is racially motivated. Not sure where you get hateful on Verducci's part.

This has to be one of the most truthful lines that has ever been written.

"There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it."

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

well played. ;)

The Nazi youth may have trained and brainwashed kids to be Nazis, but it kept them off the street and away from drugs and other dangers ;-D . Sorry if that was in poor taste.

I read the Verducci article and this quote speaks volumes:

Asked why, Bonds replied, "As a left-handed hitter, I wiped him out. That's it. And in the baseball world, Babe Ruth is everything, right? I got his slugging percentage, his on-base percentage, his walks and I'll take his home runs. That's it. Don't talk about him no more. ... I'm the next generation of the Negro leagues. Hank Aaron can have those 755 home runs.''

Someone can say that Bonds is racially motivated based on this quote. You can feel free to delete this because it is 'stupid" or you can look at the whole picture Mookie. A big part of the Barry Bonds story is the racism. The racism directed at him and the racism he directs at others. How much he gives to the United way is just great, but I give money every week to the United Way i don't see it being reported on ESPN either.

I'm sure Enron gave a ton to charities.
That doesn't mean they get a free pass on criminal activities.
