What are the chances that Papelbon gets put in the rotation and Foulke takes over as closer?

I won't put it that way slim to none. If there is injuries to 1 or 2 of their SP, Propone will be in. Given the injury history to SP, there is still possibility of that happening but for right now there is no need to own Foulke.

I'm with Haste on this. You can come up with any number of scenarios. Beckett gets hurt, whatever...Papelbon has been so dominant as a closer and Foulke has been so weak that the chances of Papelbon moving into the rotation this year are "slim to none."

Ideally the Red Sox would like to have Papelbon in the starting rotation in 2007 and have prospect Craig Hanson move into the closer role. But like previously stated, there are many possible scenarios. Papelbon has already established himself as an "elite" closer to some people. Its working for the Sox at this point so why change.

I recommended holding on to Foukle a month or so ago as a hedge against Paps moving into the rotation. At this point, though, it would take a miracle for Foulke to regain the closers role. Paps has been just evil in the 9th and Bosox would be crazy to screw with that. I continue to believe that Paps is destined for the rotation at some point, but that point is not gonna be any sooner than 2007. If you are still clinging to Foukle for possible saves, I think its safe to drop him now.
