Can this team win?

Postby jealousblues » Mon May 22, 2006 1:14 am

I had a really slow start, now im 6th out of 12
Can this team compete? I look at my roster and think it really should be good.

What do I need?

What should I do now.

H/AB R HR RBI SB FPCT OPS
C K. Johjima (Sea - C)
1B P. Fielder (Mil - 1B)
2B C. Figgins (LAA - 2B,3B,OF)
3B M. Ensberg (Hou - 3B)
SS M. Tejada (Bal - SS)
OF V. Guerrero (LAA - OF)
OF S. Podsednik (CWS - OF)
OF J. Edmonds (StL - OF)
Util R. Sexson (Sea - 1B)
DL H. Matsui (NYY - OF) DL (should I just drop him?)

Pitching
IP W SV K ERA WHIP
SP D. Haren (Oak - SP)
SP C. Hamels (Phi - SP)
RP B. Lidge (Hou - RP)
RP M. Rivera (NYY - RP)
P B. Fuentes (Col - RP)
P K. Escobar (LAA - SP,RP)
P J. Contreras(CWS - SP) DL
BN M. Mulder (StL - SP)
BN K. Wood (ChC - SP,RP)
BN J. Verlander (Det - SP)
BN F. Liriano (Min - SP,RP)
BN R. Clemens (Hou - SP) NA
DL J. Patterson (Was - SP) DL

I just traded Loretta and Garland for Figgins. How is my team looking, do I need anything? My relief pitching is looking weakish. Ive noticed Rivera has has some crazy high ERAs lately and not that many saves, and I Lidge isnt closing for the time being. I knew Fuentes was a decent solid closer from last year, but I didnt think he would the the rock in my RP when he actually pitches.

I also am one player over my limit when Patterson comes back (IF he comes back, his injury really scares me <ie. is forarm=elbow?>
Which sucks since I had just traded for him a month or two ago (papelbon for Patterson and Haren...when I thought my RP was stable and dominant)
^Same guy i traded Loretta and Garland to

after a crappy SP draft I think Ive finally have a pretty decent staff (If Clemens comes back, and is good). I wouldnt mind moving Wood, or Verlander, Hamels, Liriano...
I know all can be good but my pitching looks a little unstable.

I think your pitching will be fine. I would actually move hot names like Hamels and Lirano for depth in your hitting. That couldn't hurt, because if your line-up changes are dailey you can always have bats. Your RPs will be fine....but trading some pitching for a bat would be nice. All that depth in pitching could pay off on that. I like the trade you made for figgins. It's a good need trade and a buy low one at that. Good Luck!
