John Patterson update

Postby The Big Train » Sun May 21, 2006 8:11 pm

Doesn't look like the timetable has changed but it sounds a bit more positive...

Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports:

Right-hander John Patterson had his first bullpen session since he went on the disabled list on April 28 because of a forearm strain. He threw 45 pitches, all of them fastballs.

"[The arm] feels good. I don't think about it at all," Patterson said. "I'm just throwing the ball and trying to get back on the mound. I have to get my timing down, that's going to be the big thing the next couple of days, is just working on timing."

Patterson will play catch on Saturday and have another bullpen session on Sunday. He also is expected to throw batting practice on Tuesday.

Patterson is hoping to play a regular season game sometime in June.

Just read on rototimes that Patterson won't be returning before June 10th. That sucks.

I also have Patterson and Sheets on the DL... also have Burnett. All of them not coming back until sometime in June hurts, especially since I only have 2 DL spots, but the positive feedback on two of them helps. Hopefully the fact that it is taking so long to come back means they are being very careful, and they won't end up right back on the DL.

Thanks for the updates!

May 24: John Patterson played catch yesterday from 170 feet, according to the Washington Post. Nationals GM Jim Bowden anticipates that Patterson should be able to over come his right forearm tendinitis in time to come off the disabled list by June 10, though there are no guarantees.
