Do you think Felix will pick it up?

Postby Don G. » Sun May 21, 2006 7:26 pm

I don't wanna pull the trigger and trade him away. I'm really happy with my pitching staff (especially once Sheets comes back) but do you think Hernandez will pick it up again?

I'm keeping him. I traded away Utley to get him (in a keeper league), so that's too big an investment to just give up on in May... He's gotten good K's, so it's not arm troubles. Just have to hope he puts it all together.

In a non-keeper league that doesn't have a deep bench where you can comfortably tuck him away, it may be time to try and trade him.

Only issue is who the heck do you get for him in a trade?
Maybe Dontrelle...
I'm in a non-keeper league and am seriously eyeing cutting him and replacing with Francis, who's still out there.

That might be a bad mistake.

I'm seriously considering making exactly the same bad mistake. :,-(

Dontrelle has played horribly although i think he'll come around...that being said, i don't see the advantage to trading hernandez for willis...honestly, i expect a lot more from hernandez later on in the year......he's got to high of strikeout totals to continue like this and i just don't see getting an even return for him right now (since his value is much lower than usual).

Just drop him like I did. He could not even beat the Padres at home for heaven's sake.

It seems to be something every time out with this guy. Against Oakland, it was the error, and then the flood gates opened. Today it was the wild pitch, he struck the guy out, but he reached on the wild pitch. Then he gives up 4 more runs. Maybe its mental, maybe he just needs to tweak his mechanics like they supposedly figured out yesterday. I don't know what it is, but I know one thing. I'm not going to drop him, and I'm not gonna trade him unless I get decent value for him. He's got no where to go but up.

i'm glad i'm not the only one thinking about doing such a thing. even though i can't bring myself to do it, the thought is always there. it doesn't really help when he keeps getting beat up every week. !+)

you have a nice staff, so you can afford to bench him while he's struggling. if everything starts clicking for him again in a few starts, you'll get at least a good half year out of him. that's probably better than what's in the FA. i'd wait a few more weeks.

I plan on benching him until he puts at least three solid starts together. Tonight's win was NOT one of them. :-P
