Help me make the jump from 2nd to 1st place!!! WHIR

I feel like my team is pretty solid. I have a couple of major contributors on the DL who should be coming back soon, but I'm still looking for that place where I need to improve the most. I have 2 quality SS and 3 quality 1B so I could package the two of them to the right bidder to pick up a stud, but who should I target? WHIR

I think you should go for Utley....That's who I would try to go for if I had the firepower to trade that you have. Utley is the leagues best second baseman to have. Otherwise, I'd look into J.Lopez, M.Cab, Rolen, F.Lopez. I'd look to get some better IFs. Both lopez's would help your speed, the other two guys are just better talents to have. I hope that helps!

help?

Forget the fascination with first place. It means nothing at this point. Make the playoffs and anything can happen; the regular season stats become irrelevant at that point. Last year I was in a competitive 12 team league and held first place from the beginning of June until the playoffs started; made it to the finals; then my opponent got more home runs from Mark Ellis and Randy Winn than I got from Pujols, Lee, Matsui, Burrell and Jones combined. All that regular season power went down the tube. So is your goal to win the regular season title or the playoffs?

Unless you value the regular season title more than winning the playoffs (which I do), the only question that matters is how comfortable would you be with your current lineup going into a 3-4 week playoff tournament if it started now. Your lineup is pretty darn good. I would only suggest looking to upgrade at 2B and maybe an outfielder as insurance against Ordonez and Gibbons since both have been injury prone. There must be better options than Wood in an 8 team league.

My soapbox is breaking. Good luck dude. ;-D
