Pelfrey's getting the call...

Supposedly the Mets are ready to call up Pelfrey to start on Thursday. Don't know if this has been posted already but there ya go. I don't have a link yet, got it off a Mets board.

There's not much info on him on CBS sportsline.
Can you tell me what kind of stuff he's got?
Is he a strike out pitcher, is he wild, etc.?

I've never seen the guy pitch before, so if anyone who has wants to correct me, feel free. First of all, Pelfrey is a big guy (6-7) and throws a low to mid 90s fastball. In the minors he is a strikeout guy but I'm not too sure how that will project to the majors. Tons of upside.

He has only been a pro for 1 year and it being called up straight from AA.

But the most important thing for the Mets......can he be any worst than Lima???

Pelfrey, who didn’t sign until January after being made the ninth overall pick in the 2005 draft, might eventually get an opportunity to fill the hole in the Mets’ rotation. He’s probably not quite ready at this time, but by July or August, he could be an asset as a five- or six-inning starter. Pelfrey works at up to 95 mph and shows an average curve and a plus change. The total package could make him a No. 2 starter in two years. He’ll just need to show more consistency with the curve in order to succeed in the majors.

Projection: 4 wins, 3.90 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 52 Ks in 60 IP

Looks like the initial report was wrong, it's Soler and not Pelfrey that is getting the call....
