Villarreal folds under pressure, Ray is old and has a crappy K/BB rate (though his ERA is OK), so why not this other guy? Why not pull Smoltz from the rotation again and save the wear on his arm?

Pulling Smoltz from the rotation would be great for fantasy baseball, potential suicide for the Braves. Give that one up, not going to happen.

And McBride is more than just a lefty specialist, he's been going 2 innings at a time. He's easily my personal favourite for the job since Boyer went down, but he's had control issues since returning from injury so I'm not to sure he's in the right sort of form to take over as yet.

One things for sure, Reitsma's toast. Bobby doesn't pull a player unless he's seriously p***ed.......

Partono has only pitched 8 IP, the nine K really aren't that impressive. Back when he was 25-27, he was a bad pitcher, far below MLB quality. Then he went down to the minors and put up mediocre stats. It's very unlikely a K/9 near even 7 continues for Partono. I don't know if he added a pitch or had some miraculous change in velocity, control or someother factor, regardless, he does not look like he could do much better than Reitstma.

I'd expect a combo of McBride & Ray for a while. Ray has the mentality to be the closer and his vulcan change is nasty Trevor Hoffman style.

And if you're looking for other possibilities, Manny Acosta was just promoted to AAA. He was lights out in AA saving games alternatively with Will Startup. Also, the Braves signed Tyler Yates, a former Mets prospect, a few weeks ago. He's tearing up Richmond throwing 95-96.

I love it when everybody says I'm wrong and more often than not I turn out to be right. B-)
