Which player should the DL be named after? (ie, Jones has a strained hamstring and was put on the 15-day "Ben Sheets")
Lets get 16 nominations. Then I can seed them and we can run a single elimination bracket to ultimately decide who really deserves the honor.
Players must be current or less than a year removed from playing.
Nominations will be taken through this weekend. Then we can seed them and start the tourney next week. Here are several to get it going, comment on these and add in others I missed.
Ken Griffey, Jr
Nick Johnson
Scott Rolen
Jim Thome
Marcus Giles
Nomar Garciaparra
JD Drew
Rocco Baldelli
Ben Sheets
Troy Percival
Mark Prior
Kerry Wood
AJ Burnett
Brad Penny
Carl Pavano
Estaban Loaiza
David Wells
Wade Miller
Octavio Dotel

That pretty much sums it up. Garciaparra almost beat Griffey in the semis.

A lot of good choices here ... but I favor the Juan Gonzalez for the fact that
a) he goes (or went) frequently for injuries that were undiagnoable by western medicine.
b) typically did so when the team was out of contention (the "why bother", syndrome) and went home to recoop
c) when he did come back from his last injury managed to go back on the DL after his first AB.
A beautiful career-long combination of a steriod-induced injuries coupled with a complete lack of respect for his teammates.

I third the Juan Guanzalez vote.
You also really need to add:
Demitri Young
MIKE SWEENEY

Rondell White. He may not be able to win the title, but anyone with the nickname Ron DL White deserves a chance to compete.

I can't believe I missed Mike Sweeney. The fact that Juan Gone and Kevin Brown were left off of the original post is a traveshamockery.
How about Gabe Kapler? He had all of the talent in the world, but couldn't stay healthy.
