Cheap Saves Basket

Postby Marvelous Merv » Tue May 16, 2006 2:50 pm

I have started this string as an outlet for discussing and posting information that might help one obtain "cheap" saves - that is, opportunities where it has been confirmed that the preferred closer is being given the day off - or is due for a day off given workload - when the set-up man or someone DEEPER will get the opportunity to close out for a game or two.

Saito in LA.

Coffey in CIN might get a chance in the near future.

Of course Wheeler in Houston and Possibly that other dude.

Rodney in Det with Jones having a slight knee tweak

i think this thread is a good idea.

if people could give the heads up when a closer has pitched 3 straight days and his backup will most likely get an opp, would be appreciated.

i try to check this every now and then to pick up a save here and there but its too much work to do everyday.

Is Qualls second in line?
Let's go O's. Let's go Mets.

Qualls is second in line, but I do think Lidge will eventually straighten out.

I just dropped Wheeler for Rodney after he cleared waivers. I had started a thread asking which would be better for the long run. You've got to think Lidge has a better chance of getting right than Jones does of staying healthy.
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?

Valverde just pitched 3 days in a row. I don't know if he's the kinda guy who will go 4 straight, but if not grab Lyon, i think he's next in line.

That was the guy I was going to say too.

Qualls as mentioned...rare saves

Coffey as mentioned

Rodney..as mentioned

I still think Worrell is guy to keep an eye on. Benitez is pitching good now, but is not a stable option IMO.
