Ryan Shealy to Cubs rumor

Postby Members Only Jackets » Mon May 15, 2006 6:15 pm

Rotoworld has a rumor that the Cubs could try and get Ryan Shealy....this would be huge IMO for his stock.

Big potential. He's the next Gomes....

The Rocky Mountain News is speculating that the Cubs might have interest in trading for Triple-A Colorado Springs first baseman Ryan Shealy.
Shealy is stuck behind Todd Helton at first and he wasn't very successful in converting to the outfield so his value to the Rockies isn't great. A trade would be the best case scenario for Shealy, who has three home runs and eight RBI in 10 games for Colorado Springs.

what would the Cubs do with him other than plug him in while Lee is out? Lee is not going anywhere with the long contract and no-trade clause. Maybe the Cubs think Shealy can play RF in a less spacious park. If he can at least hit a cutoff man I'm all for it.

Yeah, with Lee the Cubs are set at 1B for years. If they want to boost the offense, they should kick A-Ram in the nuts and tell him to start hitting the ball away from the gloves.

I can't see this deal happening.

yeah i dont see it either. pointless to give alot to land someone temporarily at first, or a "project" in the outfield, but the rockies should definitely move shealy somewhere.
