Falling behind- what should I do?

Postby jaykay123 » Mon May 15, 2006 12:26 pm

At the beginning of the season, I thought my draft was pretty decent. But 6 weeks into the 6X6 Head to Head league, I'm falling off the pace to even make playoffs! I feel like I need to do something but don't know what. Any help would be useful. Here's my team:

C J. López
1B J. Thome
2B B. Phillips
3B M. Mora
SS M. Tejada
OF S. Podsednik
OF G. Sizemore
OF M. Ramírez
Util T. Hafner
BN S. Rolen
BN J. Pierre
BN T. Helton
DL J. Cantú

SP M. Mulder
SP J. Bonderman
RP A. Benítez
RP J. Isringhausen
P J. Papelbon
P A. Rhodes
P C. Hamels
BN J. Peavy
BN T. Hudson
DL B. Sheets

I will probably drop philips once cantu's back, but who should I drop when sheets is off the dl? Any general thoughts on how to help out my team?

Is this an 8 team league? Because your bench is frickin' ridiculous. Thome or Helton are fine at first base. Trade the other, as Hafner is going nowhere at Util.

You don't need Pods and Pierre. Somewhere in your league, there's someone who wants steals, and values one of these guys. Trade with him.

If Hamels pans out you've got a great stock of #2 or #3 guys... but you could use a stud to compliment Peavy. Use your bountiful offense to trade for Oswalt or Carpenter or even Schmidt at this point, and I'd upgrade a closer at the same time. Don't go injury prone (I'm lookin at you, FRod, Gagne, Wagner). But you could use some ace power on your staff instead of having it rot on your bench.

it's a 10 team league- just got lucky in the draft and w/ picking up papelbon and hamels.

yeah, i've been trying to shop thome/helton, mora/rolen, and pierre/pods, but no one seems interested. it does seem like i need to sit too many players and am to a point where i'm willing to make a lop-sided trade to get an ace sp. i guess i'm just curious if you all think my lack of pitching (and abundance of offense) is to a point where a less-than-favorable trade would be called for.

what do you think about thome/rolen/pierre for pedro and fr rodriguez?

(note: i just posted this question on the trades forum too, but since it started from this tread, thought i'd update this one as well)
