I burned my #1 priority on him. And I've already gotten messages from people bitching that they didn't understand the waiver rules.

Got him with the 16th wire pick in a 20 person dynasty league.
Lost him with the 7th wire pick in a 20 person keeper league (Looking at the persons roster, he would not keep Hamels at the end of the year due to a smaller number of keepers and decent players).
I picked him up as a FA in all 3 Yahoo leagues I'm in. It was particularly sweet as with 2 of the moves I dropped Daniel Cabrera who then went on the DL a short time after.

Well, your opinion seem to be in the vast minority. Considering all of the knowledgeable people here at the cafe, I'm not quite sure what that says about your judgement. Nobody is saying he's going to be a fantasy ace, but great minor league numbers usually transfer to the majors. The potential is real as was his performance in his major league debut. Could he bust? Sure, but his upside is definitely worth the risk. Besides, who are you saving your waiver pick for? Apparently, your league must not be very good if guys better than Hamels are being dropped by other league members.
I grabbed him off the FA (lucky lucky!). I think he is worth a waiver grab though just for the tremendous upside he can bring.
Anyway, I'm in a nonkeeper league so this is extra great! I can enjoy his 'nobody has seen his stuff' tour around the league
I got him in my keeper money league with my #1. I have to say that I am very happy as I am dealing with some serious pitching issues. I was planning on using the #1 on a hot rookie pitcher. I've been following Hamels a little closer than most people have this year and his upside is pretty high.
