The good thing about being comparatively old school is, you have cool things like Ricky Henderson rookie cards... The kids today just can't imagine what it was like back when Topps was the only game in town.... Getting a really good player in a pack was actually a big deal... Now every other card is A-rod or Pujols. Used to you'd have to go through pack after pack before you found a Ryan or a Reggie Jackson.

God only knows what I could sell my collection for on ebay. I've even got a rookie Jim Palmer. Traded for it when I was 12 from a kid who stole it from his Dad's collection... Got it for a late 70's Cecil Cooper & Rovin YOunt card... the kid was a Brewers fan, what can I say.

As a Jays fan I'll always have a special place in my heart for Mitch Williams. Going a step further though, I do remember him even when he was the closer for the Cubs. So yeah, I guess I'm at least kinda old. :-b

Last night we were playing softball and there was a guy in an As hat and this dude goes 'what the hell, there's NO A's fans in central Illinois!' and I was like 'shut up bozo, during the late 70s, whenever there was a rain delay on Cubs' games, they'd show highlights of the '70s As teams w/ the 'staches romping in the World Series'. Saying that I was watching baseball almost 30 years ago REALLY made me feel old...

You know you're old when you see Fred Lynn in a mall and not only do you recognize him, but you beg him to sign your t-shirt b/c you don't have anything else he can sign!

Yeah, Fred Lynn's AAA roommate is pals with my grandfather. Literally.

I also remember going with my other grandfather to watch the Braves at Fulton County Stadium in like 1984. There were MAYBE 2,000 fans there as the Braves SUCKED. I kept asking, "why don't we go sit down there closer to the field?"

"Cause these are the seats we paid for, son."

When you can't help thinking how old Dave Collins looks out on the field as a first base coach when he didn't look old at all when you saw him in a Cincinnati area restaurant back when he was one of your favorite players.
