Hafner Eligibility

Postby Playoffbound » Sun May 14, 2006 11:40 pm

Is it likely that Travis Hafner will become first base eligible at sometime this year? I play in a league that does not have a UTIL position so he is not even in the league. He is a player that would be worth my #1 waiver priotity.

I would check to see how many games you guys need for eligibility at a base although if he isn't in the league i would imagine he would get it right away

They have 12 games at NL parks scheduled. I doubt he starts all of them at 1B. They can't afford to not have his bat in the lineup, but with his bad elbow, I don't know that he'll play much at 1B. I am hoping he does, and gets 10 games there.

here's hoping that this acts as a jumpstart and gets him out of the funk he's been in for the past week. Mind you, I don't complain... he's been beastly all year. I'm just greedy, thats all... :-b

I just can't see the Indians leaving Hafner on the bench for all 12 away games that the Indians have in National league parks. I would think they have had Hafner taking some fielding practice at 1b to get prepared for the upcoming interleague games.

and yet it hasn't happened. though its most likely because Broussard and Perez have been an excellent platoon over at first.

makes me wonder if Broussard and Perez don't slow down anytime soon, Hafner might not get his 5 starts during interleague. that would make me very sad.
