pass on hamel, wait for weaver?

Postby jayman » Sun May 14, 2006 1:03 am

uh, i'd personally take hamel just because he's available now... who knows when weavers getting called up, and come on, weaver's just not that good - 42 innings, a measly 2.79 ear, pathetic 50k's, and unacceptable 6 walks. but really, a guy with number one in one of leagues is passing on hamel up.... then again, he has a decent pitching staff without throwing in rookie.

moral of the story: don't be ticked if you have #2 or #3 wavier priority.... you still got weaver and that LAD kid.

I don't think there can be more hype than Hamels though. You should see the Draft/Trade forum:

Drop Huff for Hamels?
Drop Bedard for Hamels?
Drop Peavy for Hamels?
Drop my little sister for Hamels?

Everyone's giddy out there...
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

If that's OK

And I can go on, and on, and on...

But who cares?

its not that hamels is better than weaver and billingsley, its just that he was first. the first hot pickup always causes hype. also, this is "panic time" for teams not faring so well

uhh... Hamels doesn't have the question marks of Weaver (Big Flyball tendencies), and has been more dominant than Billingsley, so if I had to settle for one of those two, I think I would be upset (especially Weaver)

Agreed, I think Billingley is definetely the best long term though. Hamels has too many injury questions still and Im just not sold on Weaver.

Unless you are playing in a keeper league, Hamels is a far better option for this season. He's been dominant so far this year everywhere he's pitched... And he is already up and has a job.

yeah, i was thinking hamels will be more valuable this year...as he will get more starts, and has been great this year in the minors.

he better be...because im probably using my #1 waiver in an 18team league on him

Hamels because you already know hes here to stay. Weaver and Billingsley are still in question as to when they come up, and Hamels puts up just as great numbers.
