Varitek? Is something wrong or just a Slow start?

I had Varitek and Willingham earlier in the year and dropped Willingham because I didn't have the roster space for two catchers

I dropped Varitek for McCann on May 5 and and couldn't be happier (8/16, 5 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI).

Variteks numbers have gone down each of the last few years.Hes still a solid catch but not one that most pitchers fear anymore.Still a good one to have in AL only.

You should definitely be concerned, but it's a bit early too hit the panic button. This may just be a cold streak that a one week hot streak turns things around and puts him back on track...

But still, if anything, Varitek's at that age where sometimes the decline can come fast (I.e. bat speed slows down)... then again, might just be a cold streak. Give it another month at least. If you can watch a lot of Sox games, see what 's he'd doing. Is he behind on fastballs? or maybe he's just hitting them where they're at, in which case, the worm is bound to rurn.
